Study Shows myfortic® Protects Your Kidney With the Same Effectiveness and Safety as CellCept
Worldwide study
Both myfortic and CellCept deliver the same, highly effective drug called mycophenolic acid, or MPA. A clinical study was conducted for 1 year that compared the safety and level of side effects in patients taking myfortic and patients taking CellCept. The study was carried out in 34 medical facilities, in 7 countries, and included 322 patients who had been living with a kidney transplant for 6 months or more and who had been taking CellCept for at least 1 month.
Safe and effective
The study concluded that kidney transplant patients currently taking CellCept could (on the advice of their doctor) safely start taking enteric-coated myfortic as an alternative without giving up any of the protective benefits of CellCept. myfortic delayed-release tablets and CellCept (mycophenolate mofetil) tablets and capsules should not be used interchangeably without physician supervision because the speed at which your body absorbs these two products is not the same.
Talk to your doctor or transplant team
If you have questions or concerns about taking CellCept or any other immunosuppressive medication, talk them over with your doctor or transplant team. Ask if enteric-coated myfortic is the right alternative for you.
